Thanksgiving?

Hello friends
Welp, it has been another nippy week, but another great week. Is Thanksgiving this week or next? I was checking around here in Mexico and no one celebrates Thanksgiving -what a shame. But luckily we have an exciting lunch this Thursday with all of the zone.
In other exciting news, our fearless district leader is now in the hospital. A drunk dude about 3 months ago hucked a rock at his nose, and they are finally doing the operation. Elder Saquic is in the Satélite area, but Elder Castillo from Espanita 1 and will be with him in the hospital, and Elder Castillo's companion went to Satelite, basically what that means is that Elder Hernandez and I have 2 areas, woohoo. On Saturday we headed over to the other area and Elder Castillo introduced us to all their investigators and what not.
That same day the zone leaders gave us these special books about how to use technology in the mission. There's a bunch of rumors that were supposed to be getting iPads soon, but I don't know what we'd do with iPads here, I'm pretty sure we would have them for about a week, and after that all the iPads will have been robbed.
Things are still going good here, Jesus is still going strong in the church, but Fernando has fallen off the path a little bit. It's a bummer but I'm sure he will be coming back to church here in a few weeks. Also, remember the investigator who had her legs burnt super bad and went to the hospital. Well after 2 months she's out, and back in action. She's supposed be baptized the day before Christmas. Woo hoo. Merry Christmas to me!
Ya, but everything's going good here; the time is passing by fast. Anyways the other day I was thinking about a few questions. If Jesus Christ came tomorrow would we be ready? And if we died tomorrow would we be ready to meet our maker? I think it's interesting because everyone always responds that they're not ready. There are still things they need to do and there are still things they need to do better. And it's true, there are always things we need to do, always repentance that needs to be done, but what's important is where our heart is. If we really follow our Savior, and keep his commandments to the best of our ability, there's no need to fear. The righteous need not to fear. I would like to invite y'all to think about these questions. I remember in a talk from Elder Nelson. He said he was in a plane and was about to crash, on the brink of death, but he didn't feel worried. He knew that he had kept his covenants, and was clean of heart.
I hope everyone has a great week
Love

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Oh you better watch out, you better not pout, you better not cry, I'm telling you why, presidente is coming to town. He see's you when you're sleeping, he knows when your awake, he knows if you've been bad or good so be good for goodness sake, ohhhh... haha, nah But presidente did come to town, and for the first time in my mission I had an interview with presidente. Presidente Hernandez is awesome. We pretty much talked for about 10 minutes and then it was over.
And I don't know what happened here in Mexico, but ever since the time changed it's been all nippy. Everyone's puttin up their Christmas decorations and there ain't agua caliente in aguascalientes. That's been the one bad part about San Luis Potosi, pretty much for about 4 week's we've had hot water and the rest of the time it's all nippy. In zacatecas we had this little iron thing to heat up the water, but here there is no such luxury.
Ya but besides the cold water, this has been another awesome week. This week on Sunday we had the opportunity to see a transmission(broadcast) to all of Mexico, with Elder Nelson and a few other leaders. President Nelson, and the Young Womens president shared their talks in Spanish. Not to brag but I'm pretty sure my accent is better the President Nelson's. Ya but since we had this special event out in the boonies, I was pretty much convinced that no one was going to show up again, but good old Oscar showed up. Oscar had drank a few boozes before the conference, and pretty much doesn't have a place to live, but he came, and it was an answer to my prayers. Pretty much the last person that I thought would show up, showed up.
I think it's interesting how the Lord works. The other day I was thinking about the Spirit and the feelings I've felt here in the mission. Before I always had trouble describing the feelings of the Spirit, but now to me it feels like God's love. I know that God love's me and that he love's you, and that he has a plan for us. It's easy and anyone can follow it, and anyone who does will find more happiness, more peace, a lot of other things, and more love for our Savior Jesus Christ. Keep the commandments, all of em, and follow God's Plan for us, and have a happy week.

November

Well, I guess I'll start with a spiritual thought. As a mission we've been studying the plan of salvation and I've been studying the atonement a lot. For you all, what does the atonement mean for you? Do we use the atonement everyday? Do we really understand the Savior's sacrifice for us and all it means in God's plan. Because I sure don't, but there's a scripture I like.
In Alma 7:11-12 it says "And he shall go forth suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind, and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people. 12 And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people, and he will take upon him their infirmities that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities."
I really like this scripture because it says alot of things that are really important, but what I like most about it is that Christ suffered everything for us, everything. And my invitation is that we can use the atonement in our lives everyday, for the good times, the bad times, the glad times, and the sad times. There's always something and we can always use the power of the atonement to better our situation.
Anywho, this was a pretty good week. It's always a good week, only things have dried up a little bit, we always have people to teach but not to many are progressing, It's kind of a bummer in my mission people have always showed up to church except for this week and the last. But it's ok.
Here in Mexico the 31st is Halloween and 2nd I think is the Day of the Dead. I thought there would be a lot of fiestas and what not, but it was pretty mellow for the Day of the Dead. Pretty much all they do is a few people create an alter with a bunch of memories and what not of one of their family members that have passed away. And later they go and visit the cemetery. I guess it's kinda like Memorial day. But the day after we saw a bunch of apostasy. Here in Mexicio some people like to worship the santa muerte or in other words satan. So at like 8 at night we were strolling to town going to visit a few people and we saw this display case with a bunch of people crowded around it with a bunch of statues of the santa muerte, and then about a block away there was another display case with a bunch of statues of the virgin maria. Apostasy everywhere! Pretty much all I saw was a bunch of wickedness. All these people crowded around the santa muerte were preparing for a dance, and all the nuns crowded around the virgin were chanting some spell or who knows what. All I have to say is that we quickly evaded the situation.
Also mom the pants arrived this week, muchas gracias. thanks to everyone for all your support, I feel very blessed to have an awesome family and friends. I hope everyone has a great week!

Halloween

Howdy all,
I'm looking at my agenda right now and I have to say this was a pretty normal week. Oh wait, on Tuesday it says we had a meeting with President. Huh, I have to say the time is confusing here in the good ol mission, I know I've said that a lot but it's the truth. I feel like I've spent 3 eternities here but it also feels like I just got here. Oh well, I'm just trying to enjoy the time I have. Oh ya. I also forgot to explain the picture from last week. So last week or 2 weeks ago, as a district we set up this table with a bunch of church materials for a couple of hours to see if we could herd in a few of God's children. It was funny we forget to set up sign saying that everything is free and this dude started haggling for a book about the teachings of the prophet Brigham Young. It's pretty weird pretty much everyone we talk to believes in Jesus Christ, but doesn't want anything to do with us. It was fun.
Anywho back to this week. So on Tuesday we had a meeting with Presidente with our zone and another zone, and I didn't recognize anyone. It's kind of weird, I had met all the old missionaries but now they have all returned home. But it was awesome to see presidente. I really like him a lot, he tries to focus on the important things that really matter, and I'm trying to do that too. As missionaries, there's a lot of stuff we can do. a lot of things we can say, a lot of places that we can visit, but what really matters is our Savior Jesus Christ. I've been trying to apply this to my life. A lot of the time, I'm distracted with the investigators or with my companion or things at home, or things here, or a bunch of stuff, but all that really matters is my Savior Jesus Christ and what He thinks. I know that I'm serving him, and that my efforts will be blessed. There's a lot of things that I can't do alone, but through Christ I can do all things. I hope everyone has a great week.
Lots of Love
Elder Webb
